GET OUT THE VOTE !
FIRST - REGISTER TO VOTE !
To be eligible to register to vote you must:
- be a United States Citizen;
- be 18 years of age on or before the day of the election;
- be a resident of the State of California
- not be in prison or on parole for the conviction of a felony

Remember: In California, the deadline to register to vote
for an election is 15 days before election day, so please
register early !
WARNING: It is illegal to register to vote if you are not
eligible or to fraudulently register other persons.
Punishable by up to three years in prison.
SECOND - ABSENTEE BALLOT !
To vote by mail, you use an
"absentee ballot" which means you
will be absent from your polling
place on election day.
You need to ask for an "absentee ballot" in writing. The easiest way
to do that is to fill out the application
form, like the one below, that comes with your sample ballot.
If you do not have this form, you can also request an absentee ballot by writing a
letter or postcard to your county elections office. They have to have your signature
to make sure they do not give your ballot to someone else.
You must send in the request for an absentee ballot
at least 1 week before the election.
After you send in your form above or make a request in writing you will receive a ballot in the mail.
Be sure to mail your ballot back before election day. Or, on election day, you
can drop it off at any polling place in your county between 7am and 8pm.
